The CARE Awards is a free, community-driven film festival dedicated to showcasing bold, dynamic independent cinema. Our weekend celebration highlights stories with an Appalachian connection — whether through the filmmakers behind them, the locations where they’re shot, or the themes they explore.
We believe that the art and craft of filmmaking have the power to unite, inspire, and challenge us. Through cinema, we open doors to new perspectives and create meaningful conversations that go beyond the screen. Each year, we present an exciting range of work — from narrative and documentary features to short films, music videos, spoken-word performances, web series, and animated projects — all sharing a passion for storytelling that entertains, enlightens, and connects.
